The joint parliament plenum of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies voted by 238 votes in favour and no vote against for Mişu Negriţoiu’s dismissal from the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) helm.
The unanimous vote comes after the private pension fund NN scandal last month. Negritoiu’s revocation proposal dates back to October 2016, after a report on how the compulsory insurance policies (RCA) crisis in 2016 had been handled.
One day before the vote, Negritoiu claimed he does not understand the reasons behind his dismissal. “I believe I have done my job and met the objectives. I came to ASF with a clear mission and clear political support. Unfortunately, out of those who granted the support only one is still standing – the Senate Speaker (Calin Popescu Tariceanu). I prefer to leave ousted by politicians than taken over by the DNA. I am certain I’ve done my job,” Misu Negritoiu said.
Also on Thursday, the senators and deputies have appointed, by 236 votes in favour and 10 against, Adrian Dita as president of the National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM). According to the legal provisions, the President of ANCOM is proposed for a six-year term.
