There are increasingly more debtors to banks and NBFIs lately. Thus, according to National Bank of Romania (BNR) data, the number of individuals registered to the Credit Bureau, with arrears exceeding 30 days at banks and NFIs increased to 713,921 people in January, more by 9,675 compared to December 2015.
At the beginning of the year, debts value stood to RON 11.03 billion, of which over RON 4.43 billion were in local currency RON 4.61 billion – equivalent in euro, RON 1.93 billion – equivalent in other currencies and RON 48.4 million – equivalent in US dollars. Overdue for more than 90 days represent over RON 7.61 billion.
Also, the central bank statistics show that there are debts of RON 49.8 million with a delay of 61-90 days, respectively RON 56.3 million, between 31-60 days.
In January, total household and corporate debts to banks exceeded RON 20.8 billion, Bucharest representing over 34 percent of the total.
The NPL ratio was 13.61 percent in 2015, down 7.1 percentage points from the level recorded in 2014, according to BNR.
