Romania was formally notified by the European Commission (EC) about the removal of G5 conditionality concerning the existence of a legislative framework for the effective implementation of EU rules on state aids for the structural funds and European investment, according to the Ministry of European Funds (MFE).

Thus, Romania becomes the first EU member state that fulfills the conditionality on state aid, thus avoiding a possible suspension of payments. Brussels authorities say that the Action Plan is fulfilled agreed by the Romanian representatives with the European Commission officials.

Ex-ante conditionalities were negotiated by each Member State with the European Commission, representing preparatory measures for legislation / institutions for a better use of European funds.

The deadline by which Romania must fulfill all benchmarks is December 31, 2016.
