Romania overtakes France in maize production for the first time in history

Romania has registered a record production of 14.5 million tons of maize this year, placing Romania on the first position in the top of the EU largest maize producers, according to Eurostat data, Ziarul Financiar informs.
“The farmers are becoming more and more efficient in what they do, they have good results, but the industrialization and processing sector, which brings high added value, is not yet well developed, has not kept the pace with the evolution of agriculture,” Alina Cretu, Executive Director of the Maize Producers Association in Romania, said.
