The giant , the largest producer of building materials in the world, has appointed Romanian Marcel Cobuz at the helm of his operations in Europe, thus becoming number two in the company, along with four other regional directors. His new position will be activated on January 1, 2018, capital.ro informs.
Marcel Cobuz (47) works with LafargeHolcim since 2000. He held a number of operational positions in six countries and was executive director in Indonesia, Iraq and, currently, Morocco. He has double citizenship: Romanian and French. He started his career with the National Bank of Romania (BNR) and was one of the founders of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) in Romania. During 2003-2006 he was the financial manager of Lafarge Greece and Romania. Cobuz will replace Roland Kohler as Regional Director for Europe, who has decided to retire. Marcel Cobuz will also be a member of the executive committee.
The Romanian will be responsible directly to LafargeHolcim CEO Jan Jenisch, as the other four directors for North America, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East and Asia.
