State Treasury will accept online payment of taxes

The Ministry of Finance has signed the licensing agreement for the Treasury as acceptor of electronic payments with MasterCard and Maestro cards in the conditions established by the Government Emergency Ordinance on the use of resources through the State Treasury, the institution informed on Thursday, according to capital.ro.
“The implementation of online payment, including the expansion of internet banking of the State Treasury, will be conducted from European funds through the project Improvement of the decision making in the financial sector in Romania. Following an evaluation by the Managing Authority of Operational Programme for Administrative capacity – POCA, it was accepted for funding,” reads a release from the Ministry of Finance.
The project will develop a component dedicated to the payment by card, through which taxpayers can pay online all types of taxes to the state budget, to local budgets, to the state social insurance, as well as to those administered by other public institutions. Taxpayers will not pay commissions on transactions.
In the next period, MasterCard will carry out the technical implementation, which will last up to three months.
