Transporters confederation rejects ASF level for RCA premiums for cargo vehicles larger than 16 tonnes, calls for Negritoiu’s resignation

The Confederation of Operators and Certified Transporters in Romania (COTAR) rejects the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) proposal on the level of premiums amounting to RON 7,540 for the compulsory insurance policies (RCA) for vehicles of over 16 tonnes and recalls that the risk premium for this category is RON 2,011, while the remaining RON 5,949 represents administrative costs and the profit of insurance companies coming from RCA.

In this context, the confederation calls for the resignation of ASF President Misu Negriţoiu, claiming he made it possible to ‘extort the transporters, the citizens’.

In a release on Tuesday, COTAR President Vasile Stefanescu calls on MPs to dismiss the ASF council headed by Misu Negritoiu for producing financial damages related to RCA, adding that ASF thinks very badly about Romanians.

COTAR representatives attended the meeting held by ASF, on October 14. According to COTAR, the ASF president presented the day before the RCA proposed price for a vehicle of over 16 tons, which was in the amount of RON 9,800/year, and say that following negotiations it fell to RON 7,960/year, negotiable.

COTAR remains dissatisfied with the RCA final value on vehicles exceeding 16 tonnes, unlike the buses, coaches, minibuses, taxis, where the value is getting closer to the level of 2015.

ASF: RCA premiums of max. RON 7,534 for cargo vehicles larger than 16 tonnes

Transporters may pay a compulsory auto insurance (RCA) premium of maximum RON 7,534 for a cargo vehicle with weight exceeding 16 tonnes, while for passenger vehicles with a capacity of over 40 seats the maximum premium will be of RON 6,600, according to a Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) press release issued on Monday.

For individuals, for a vehicle with an engine capacity of 1201-1400 cc, whose owner is aged between 31 and 40 years, the maximum premium rate is of RON 610.

ASF approved on Monday, in a special sitting, the report on determining the maximum premium rates for compulsory auto insurance for damages to a third party by motor vehicle accidents.

The maximum rates set by ASF will be sent to the Ministry of Finance, according to the law, which will require the Government approval.

The employers in transportation UNTRR, FORT, APTE 2002 APULUM, ARTRI accused, late last week, the Financial Supervisory Authority that has not respected the terms of the agreements of September 14-15 and called on the Government to intervene in order to implement the Ordinance on maximal RCA tariffs, to avoid blocking the market.
