Veterinary Authority is checking all poultry shipments from countries registering bird flu outbreaks

The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) is severely monitoring the intra-community trade and is checking all consignments of poultry coming from countries where lately outbreaks of bird flu have been announced, in order to prevent the spreading of the disease in Romania.

Hitherto Hungary, Switzerland, Denmark, Croatia, Germany, the Netherlands and Austria have notified Brussels for bird flu outbreaks on their territory.

According to an ANSVSA communiqué on Wednesday, following information received from the European Commission and the alert messages from the World Animal Health Organisation regarding the epidemiological situation within the EU, the authority has undertaken supplementary measures to prevent the spreading of the disease on Romanian territory.
