Romanian cyclist Sergei Tvetcov won the 51st edition of the Tour of Romania on Sunday, while the last stage, held in Bucharest, was won by Onur Balkan.
Onur Balkan won by sprint the 100 km fifth stage (Free Press Square – Poligrafiei Blvd. – Jiului Street) in 2 h 09 min 35 sec, followed by the Polish Szymon Krawczyk (Voster ATS Team) and by Italian Filippo Ferronato (CT Friuli).
In the general standings, Ţvetcov was followed by Onur Balkan, 12 seconds behind, and by Polish cyclist Mateusz Grabis (Voster ATS Team), 20 seconds behind, etc. Emil Dima (MsTina-Focus) ranked 6th, 27 seconds behind.
Italian cyclist Nicola Venchiarutti won the red jersey, awarded to the best climber, the white jersey (awarded to the best cyclist under 23) was awarded to Onur Balkan, and the green jersey (awarded to the best sprinter) was won by Moldovan cyclist Cristian Raileanu.
Zvetcov won the yellow jersey, as leader of the general standings, and the blue jersey, as the best Romanian cyclist.
The Tour of Romania, whose first edition took place in 1934, has resumed after a five-year break. The last edition won by a Romanian was the one in 2011, when Andrei Nechita won the yellow jersey.
