The Ministry of Tourism withdrew 107 licenses of the travel agencies last year, following the irregularities discovered, according to the reports published on the ministry’s website, according to hotnews.ro.
2,655 travel agencies are currently licensed. Their list is published on the Tourism Ministry website under the “Tourism Authorization” section.
Also, another 125 licenses have been canceled at the companies’ request. By comparison, 1,073 licenses were withdrawn in 2016, either ex officio or for non-compliance with the laws in force.
Romanian tourism has been marked in the last two years of resounding insolvencies, including the travel agencies such as Paravion.ro, Mareea and Genius Travel, as well as the suicide of Omnia Turism owner, George Negru.
