Almost one million people visited the Romanian seaside this summer, according to estimates of the Romanian Tourism Owners Federation (FPTR), which is unprecedented in the last 20 years, increasing both the number of Romanian tourists, and the tourists from abroad.

“The impression is of a very high growth due to August, but May was a month of decline and June recorded a very small increase of 2-3 percent. Large increases were in July and August, of 16 to 17 percent. Overall, the estimated increase by the end of this season, which will end on September 17, is about 11 percent as regards the Romanian tourists and 10 percent for foreign tourists, reaching 950,000 Romanian tourists and 50,000 foreign tourists on local seaside. Is for the first time in 20 years when we pass one million tourists spending their holidays on the Romanian seaside,” Dragos Raducan, FPTR First Executive Vice President stated on Thursday in a press conference.

Attending the event, Anca Pavel-Nedea, President of the National Authority for Tourism (ANT), noted that this increase in the number of tourists is due to external factors and the fact that Romania is a safe destination, with “competitive products” and private investments.

FPTR representatives also showed that the tourists that have chosen Romanian seaside as holiday destination for this summer looked especially for all inclusive offers.

On the other hand, the Seaside – Danube Delta Association (ALDD) shows that Mamaia resort is still the first in tourists’ order of preference, followed by Venus and Eforie. Vama Veche resort recorded good results also.

FPTR also estimates that the seaside tariffs will grow next summer by 10 percent for the first time in the last eight seasons, one of the reason being the lately price increase made “without explanation”.
