3,000 Romanians pay guides for their vacations abroad
Over 3,000 Romanians, who last year spent expensive vacations for which they paid more than EUR 1,000, were charged an extra 10 per cent for being accompanied by a guide as they do not speak foreign languages, told Mediafax Sorin V?duvoiu, the general manager of Perfect Tour agency specialized in luxury holidays.
“I estimate that more than 3,000 Romanians who have afforded last year to go on exotic vacations, amounting over EUR 1,000, have asked the agencies for an attendant because they don’t speak foreign languages,” said V?duvoiu.
He added that such a guide, providing tourists the translation at the objectives they visit, costs them an extra fee of 10 per cent of the holiday. In general, such an attendant goes with a group of 15-20 people.
“These tourists, who don’t speak foreign languages, are people aged between 50 and 60 years old and who either have their own businesses, either they have wealthy children or they have high pensions. In general, they go on cultural tours from 7 to13 days, mostly in South American countries, but particularly in Asia,” said V?duvoiu.
Perfect Tour, one of the largest travel agency in Romania considering its turnover, is specialized in business tourism and luxury holidays.
