As we are coming closer to the magic of winter time celebrations, more cities in Romania toed the line for Christmas fairs. One of the most beautiful winter parks and fairs in the country has opened in Alba Iulia, central Romania, on St. Nicholas.

Locals in the medieval city lit together the festive Christmas lights, by counting downward.

A shinny pavilion with thousands of lights and a 12-metre artificial Christmas tree were placed in the Fortress Square of Alba Carolina.

The fair is crammed with Christmas wood cottages where the visitors can buy hot wine, tea, ginger bread and sweets, as well as handmade items. The fair also provides a skating rink to be opened during the whole winter season.

The bridges of the Alba Carolina Fortress were all dressed up in tunnels of lights, like the trees in Unirii Square. Heptagon–like ornamental lights have found shelter under the lamps in the Fortress, just like the shape of the citadel itself, a 7-point star.

Sibiu Christmas Fair is another exquisite winter destination this year, opening its gates since mid-November. Over 80 exhibitors from Romania and abroad came to the tenth edition of the Christmas Fair in Sibiu. According to the organizers, the fair’s 2016 edition has the monumental screening in the limelight; it will be a show of lights projected on all buildings in Piata Mare every night, for 46 days.
