Duruitoarea Waterfall is a natural monument located in a protected area in Ceahlau Massif (Eastern Carpathians), Neamt County, 1270 meters altitude and is formed on Rupturii Stream that comes from the alpine valley and flows into the Schitului Valley and then in Bicaz Lake.

Duruitoarea Falls boasts about an impressive 25-30-meter water fall. Because of the high altitude of the waterfall, the thunderous roar of the waterfall can be heard from afar; this is why the waterfall was named Duruitoarea (which means very loud). The noise gets even higher on rainy weather.

Duruitoarea Falls is one of the most visited attractions in the National Park Ceahlau and can be accessed on the red trail that lowers from Dochia Chalet down to Durau Resort. The entire route covers a length of 7.5 km, with a difference level up to 950m, and can be finished in about 4-5 hours. You will observe a wooden ladder that you can climb up to about 30meters where you will reach the platform that cuts off the waterfall in two different water columns.

The highest peak in Ceahlau Massif is Ocolasul Mare, with 1,907 m, while Toaca Peak measures 1,900 m. The mountain offers a rich fauna such as the Carpathian bear, wolf, capercaillie, chamois or adder, and a special flora represented by edelweiss. According to Agerpres, the natural tourism potential of Ceahlau weighed since the last century in arranging the routes and all the resting places. Around 1860, the Cantacuzino family put into service Ceahlau’s first path and the first shelters were built in 1906 near the Cold Fountain and in 1914 at Fantanele.
