Mocanita steam train passing through 40 kilometers of narrow-gauge line in the gorge of Vaser Valley was placed on the digital platform of Google Cultural Institute.

“Google Cultural Institute offered us the pleasant opportunity to make a virtual gallery about Mocanita last year. Google’s project aims at preserving the world art in virtual size for those who don’t have the occasion of reaching these places or even at arousing everybody’s curiosity about the world cultural patrimony through modern technologies. The project was presented at the Romanian Peasant Museum in Bucharest,” the president of Wassertalbahn, Viseu de Sus Foundation, Daniel Andreica told Agerpres. The foundation is managing the promotion of Mocanita train.

The foundation president will attend several workshops on this topic at Google HQs in Paris on April 28-29.

“We’ll take part as collaborators in making a new platform for android. Participants from Central and Eastern Europe will debate on the capitalization opportunities of the Europe’s cultural and historical patrimony. This fact is establishing Mocanita’s and Vaser Valley’s part, as it is a widely known touristic destination,” Andreica also said.

Vaser Valley is one of the favorite travel destinations of Romanians and foreign tourists, regardless of the season. Mocanita steam train is by far the main attraction, but the mountain landscape and the village boarding houses in Maramuresului Mountains and Pietrosu Rodnei are also worth seeing.
