Nearly 100,000 tourists in Romanian resorts on May 1, spending EUR 12.5 M
The bad weather at late last week, did not spoiled Romanians’ holiday plans for May 1 and about 99,000 people spent the night in accommodation units in the resorts throughout the country, up by 9 percent compared to 2014.
According to Romanian Tourism Employers Federation (FPTR), the tourists spent in Romanian resorts during this period, only on accommodation, over RON 20 million.
In all internal tourist destinations, only from food and entertainment the revenues were about RON 35 million, while a Romanian spent the same amount on average as last year, namely RON 120 per day, no bed and breakfast, FPTR data show.
To this sum, over RON 20 million shall be added on bed and breakfast, which leads to an estimate of the total costs of those who spent their May 1st mini – holiday inside the country at RON 55 million (about EUR 12.5 million).
Over 40,000 Romanians choose to stay close to nature, making rural tourism, and other 25,000 persons went to sea. 12,000 Romanians chose to spend the holiday at SPAs, where they benefited from special programs of treatment and relaxation and 21,000 people went in mountain resorts. Very few, 1,000 persons, were in Danube Delta.
