Rasnoavei Gorges, a perfect natural setting for mountain sports and leisure activities

Rasnoavei Gorges (Cheile Rasnoavei) are a perfect natural setting for mountain sports and leisure activities, being provided with specific endowments, easy access, accommodation and other tourist sites in the vicinity. Cheile Rasnoavei are about 10 kilometers far from Rasnov, Brasov county, on the west side of the Postavaru Massif. The landscape is fantastic and most of the tourists visit the area especially during summer.

Rasnoavei Gorges are located in a region that enjoys great tourism potential offering wild landscapes of breathtaking beauty and for that reason are a perfect destination for relaxing walks in the woods or practicing sports mountain and various leisure activities. Being a cool climate, wind free area, here you can easily practice climbing. You can climb rocky walls’ slopes here throughout the summer season, starting with spring months, until late autumn. The average summer temperature is between 22 and 27 degrees Celsius. The rainiest month is June.

Rasnoavei Gorges are a tourist attraction not only for climbing lovers and extreme sports’ fans but also for those seeking a favorable place for relaxation. The location represents the ideal place for alpine climbing, horseback riding and bungee jumping. The most famous alpine routes here are Santinela Cheilor and Surplombele de Aur. Here there is also one of the oldest and most popular bungee jumping facilities in the country, recording a free-fall from about 130 meters high.  With more than 100 routes, this cliff has it all: climbing, wide or narrow cracks, overhangs and roofs. You will have lots of routes to choose from, especially if you are eager for the unclimbed surfaces. The routes range from very easy to very hard.

From here you can always go hiking either on Postavaru Massif on marked hiking trails towards Silver Oaks (Stejarii Argintii) or Birches Hill (Dealul cu Mesteceni), Rasnoavei Cave or Poiana Brasov, or to Rasnov Citadel, located about 10 kilometers away.

Every year, the Equestrian Festival takes place in Rasnov, gathering the most valuable horses all over Romania.
