Romania has launched today a cultural multimedia platform Romania Atractiva/Attractive Romania. Romania’s cultural tourism program includes 12 thematic routes that cross the entire country, with 275 objectives to visit, presented in the platform and which, until 2026, will be signaled including through specific road infrastructure.
The Attractive Romania program, with a value of approximately 36.3 million lei, is part of Component 11 – Tourism and Culture, Investment 1 – Promotion of the 12 tourist/cultural routes, Milestone 332 of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The program, coordinated by the Ministry of Investments and European Projects, has 211 direct beneficiaries (custodians of cultural objectives to be visited), while the main beneficiaries of the program are Romanian and foreign tourists.
The platform promotes castles, fortresses or mansions, villages with traditional architecture, fortified or wooden churches, monasteries included in the UNESCO heritage, the Danube limes, along with the cultural landscape of the Danube Delta or the local gastronomy – are only part of the themes on which Romania’s first cultural tourism itineraries were developed.
For the program, a digital library was developed for the first time, available in several languages of international circulation, in which the history of each cultural objective is presented. The purpose of the platform is to provide information about the themes of the existing routes and the objectives included in these routes. Thus, it brings the future tourist as close as possible to the experiences he can discover offline and helps him in choosing travel destinations. The 275 tourist attractions are introduced in the platform, and their presentation materials have been translated into English, French, Romanian and some of them into German and Hungarian. Cumulatively, more than 5,800 materials were produced, to which are added 98 revitalization plans that will help some objectives to attract public interest and find sources of self-financing.
The Romania Attractiva platform allows and encourages the addition of new information, either related to other tourist attractions on the routes, or related to thematic events that are organized in the country and which can now be accessed centrally by lovers of cultural and historical tourism.
The platform is available on the romania-atractiva.ro page and through the travel mobile application, available free of charge for both iOS and Android smartphones.
Both the development and maintenance of the application are carried out by Eventya, a company part of the Terra Building Association – Eventya, the winning consortium of the tender related to the implementation of the project. Eventya has created many other cultural and travel apps in Romania, among the most successful are Brașov Tourism App, Sibiu City App, Discover Dolj, Visit Harghita, Visit Covasna, Galați City App, Visit Maramureș, Salina Turda App, but and apps for cultural institutions, such as the FITS App, the International Theater Festival app, the ASTRA App Museum, the Gong Theater or the Sibiu Philharmonic App. For Attractive Romania, the company will offer even after the completion of the program (June 2026) another 5 years of constant maintenance and support for the application and website.
