Romanian hotel with the first artificial wave swimming pool in Europe awaits for ‘revival’
Situated in the very heart of Bucharest on Magheru Boulevard, the 4 star Lido Hotel manages to blend history with style and comfort.
The hotel is an historical building dating from the early 20th century. It was designed by Architect Ernst Doneaud and completed in 1930. Upon its completion, the hotel came with a 500 sq. m., backside artificial wave swimming pool that turned into an immediate success among Bucharest locals.
In addition to superior and spacious guest room facilities, the hotel also offers in-house hairdressing/beautician facilities, a welcoming bar and a truly excellent restaurant, famed locally, and beyond, for its international and regional cuisine.
Numerous facilities : 90 seats Blanche restaurant; The Brasserie; Melody day bar; health club with sauna and Jacuzzi; the beauty salon; the first artificial wave swimming pool in Europe and the beer garden, has made Lido a benchmark for the tourists and for Bucharest’s business tourism, even in 2000.
A modern hotel housed in a historic building, the Lido successfully balances functionality with technology, comfort, sophistication and charm.
Former politician and interim prime minister during interwar period, Constantin Angelescu Monteoru owned this hotel. Angelescu died in 1948 and the hotel was confiscated by the Communist regime. Despite the several requests made by the original owner’s inheritors, the property closed down.
Following a 17- year trial, the Angelescus however managed to get back their properties: the Lido, the actual Magheru One and Angelescu Mansion, as well as Monteoru House, dailybusiness.ro informs.
