The profile of the Romanian tourist avid for online booking

Romanian tourists booking their trips online are usually searching for offers of air-travel tickets, city break packages, hotel accommodation and touristic consultancy by call center or live chat, reads a study by GfK Romania. The less sought after online service is rent a car.

When resorting to an online travel agency, most of the Romanian tourists is interested in purchasing air-travel tickets due to the speed of identifying offers, to the discounts and to the interfaces easy to use.

The study reveals that tourists are frequently using special offers, newsletters and city-break like holiday packages (26%).

On average, 1 in 5 Romanians is interested in booking hotel rooms. The 24/24 call center is the most appreciated online service.

Most of the online tourists are highly educated people who have medium to high incomes. They age range from 18 to 45 years old.

At the same time, great part of the customers is women living in cities with over 200,000 inhabitants. Bucharesters seem to be the most active online users when it comes to booking holidays.
The study also shows that among the travellers, the percentage of the single ones without children is higher than the one of married with children.

The GfK research surveyed various behaviors of the Romanian tourists, while comparing the local online travel agencies such as Esky, Vola.ro, Tripsta, Paravion and Flygo. Nine in ten people heard about Vola.ro, which ranked the brand first in the top of the online travel agencies on market awareness.
