Transylvania was included in the seventh position in a “Top 24” of recommended holiday destinations for 2024 by the well-known American news agency Bloomberg.

“Get Dracula out of your head. This area of central Romania—which, yes, was the setting of Bram Stoker’s novel—is worth visiting for many reasons other than its castles and folklore,” Bloomberg suggests.
Among the first suggestions made by the US news agency is the village of Matca,  a brand-new rural retreat in Simon village nestled in the Carpathian Mountains, but also Bethlen Estates, the 13th-old manor of Count Miklós Bethlen.
Dracula’s fabled home, Bran Castle, is also recommended as a must-see, along with medieval churches in the area.
Bloomberg also mentions the Unesco World Heritage Site Roșia Montană, the gold mining complex, “close enough for quick—and utterly fascinating—day trips.”
The American journalists tell potential visitors that the best time to travel to Transylvania is in the autumn, September and October, but also in June and that it is to be avoided in the winter, as it “can be dark and cold”, but also in summer, when “it is busy and hot”.
In addition to Transylvania, in the top of Bloomberg’s recommendations for this year, estimated to be an explosive one for tourism, there are also: Quito (Ecuador, with the mention that an update of the list warns of the security situation that occurred after the publication of the article), Boston, Dominican Republic , Aspen (USA), Busan (South Korea), Argentina, Amboseli National Park (Kenya), Belfast, Lima, Kangaroo Island (Australia), Bergen (Norway), Las Vegas, Halifax, Morocco, Hong Kong, Montecito (California , USA), Palau, Malta, Tuscany, Cayman Islands, Ucluelet (British Columbia, Canada), Willamette Valley (Oregon, USA), San Sebastián (Spain).
