Arcelik, the home appliances arm of Turkey’s biggest industrial conglomerate Koc Holding, continues its investments in Romania. The works on the new Arctic plant, which would be located in Ulmi, Dambovita County, could start in May after obtaining the building permit, economica.net informs.
The investment was approved by the Arcelik shareholders since February 2016 and is estimated at around EUR 105 million.
Arcelik along with its subsidy Arctic, of which it owns 96.7 percent, has applied for a grant from the Romanian government as well, ever since last year.
At the new plant, Turkey’s Arcelik will produce washing machines and dishwashers.
According to local authorities, a first capacity of the plant could be ready in 8-10 months after the construction began. The plant will have a monthly capacity of 1.1 million washing machines and 500,000 dishwashers.
At the end of the investment, the plant could create up to 4,000 new jobs.
