Two French tourists rescued in Valcea County after 11 hours

An emergency phone call to 112 started the alert for the Calimanesti mountain gendarmes and a team of mountain rescuers in Valcea County, who embarked on a rescue mission in search for two French tourists. The two failed to follow the track to Cozia Chalet and entered the Zavodului Valley.

Three mountain gendarmes and 6 mountain rescuers started a difficult intervention during the night of Sunday to Monday, a mission that lasted 11 hours, voceavalcii.ro informs.

In the mountains, the temperatures were very low and there was risk of avalanche. The two French tourists were rescued and brought to the nearby locality.

The mountain rescuers and the mountain gendarmes recommend tourists to go mountaineering very well equipped, after being trained and having experience, so that they avoid risking their lives.
