Update: The Islamic State has claimed the Las Vegas shooting on Monday, saying the author had been converted to Islam several months ago. However, FBI later informed that the attack had nothing to do with the international terrorism. Investigators found out more than 40 weapons, explosive and ammunition in the attacker’s house.
A 23-year-old man from Cluj, Luca Iclodean, is among the hundreds injured in the bloodiest shooting in the USA, during the country music concert in Las Vegas on Sunday.
The young man is living with his family in the Nevada state and was among the spectators attending the gig.
The young man’s mother, Carmen Iclodean, has posted on her Facebook account a photo featuring her son on the hospital bed, accompanied by a message asking all the people who know them to pray for her son.
“I usually don’t post personal stuff, but I really need help now. Please pray for my son, Luca, who has been shot during the Las Vegas attack. He is undergoing surgery right now, he is in critical condition and he would appreciate your prayers,” wrote Carmen Iclodean, who works in a casino in Las Vegas.
Later on Monday night, Luca’s mother revealed new details about her son’s condition on her Facebook page.
“I am overwhelmed by the support I got from all of you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
Luca made it through surgery and he’s stable for now. The bullet went through both lungs and scratched one vertebrae. The surgeon had to remove 2/3 of his right lung, he is still on a ventilator (breathing machine) but he’s alive and expected to recover in time. Thank you so much again for the prayers, they worked as always.
I’m beyond grateful he made it but my heart aches for the families of the ones who didn’t make it. Please continue to pray for all of them,” Carmen Iclodean posted.
Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed a Romanian had been injured in the mass shooting, announcing that the Romanian honorary consul in Las Vegas intends to visit the Romanian man as soon as his health conditions allows it.
At least 59 people have been killed and 527 injured in a mass armed attack in Las Vegas, with 12 of them in critical condition. The local police identified the attacker as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock from Las Vegas.
The gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel towards an open-air music festival attended by 22,000. Police say he killed himself as officers stormed the room where 10 guns were found.
The attack is seen as the bloodiest one in the US history.
