Former tennis legend Boris Becker has denies any collaboration, as adviser of consultant, with Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, 1st WTA, as the domestic media has informed on Thursday.
“I very much value Simona Halep, but certainly I will not be her coach or her consultant. Nothing is true, zero,” Becker has told German press agency SID, according to digi24.ro.
Boris Becker reportedly arrived last week to Romania and met Simona Halep and businessman Ion Tiriac and reports read that he is to start collaboration with the Romanian tennis player.
According to ‘Libertatea’ newspaper, Becker was to become Halep’s new adviser, not coach, and will be paid EUR 20,000 per month or EUR 10,000 for each tournament during which he advises Simona Halep.
The source claimed the deal was negotiated by Ion Tiriac, the one who invited Becker to Romania.
As known, the former German tennis legend is facing financial difficulties.
He has collaborated until recently with 1st ATP Novak Djokovici.
Becker is one of the best tennis players Germany ever had, with three titles won at Wimbledon.
