Update: Thousands in Victoriei Square for the third day in a row: We stay until Dancila Gov’t falls

Thousands of protesters have gathered on Sunday, once again in front of the government offices for the third rally in a row. Rallies were organized in cities such as Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Constanta or Sibiu. In Victoriei Square, the gendarmes have remanded a man considered as suspect by other protesters, and in Cluj a tent has been installed on the road in front of the Prefect’s office.

About 10,000 people protested Sunday evening around 22:00h in Victoria Square to demand the resignation of the Government.

Online communities such as Coruptia Ucide (Corruption Kills), We Insist, Declic, One Vision, Rezist and Reset announced fresh protests in Victoriei Square, as of 18.00h, under the slogan “We do not give up”.

“We can’t give up! Not after PSD-ALDE have taken advantage of a repression device against their own citizens, whom they reportedly govern and defend their rights. It is unacceptable, unspeakable and we can’t remain impassive. We remain in the street until the Dancila Government falls. Go away until someone loses his life,” the message reads.

Tens of thousands of people returned to the Victoriei Square on Bucharest on Saturday evening to protest peacefully against the Government and the ruling party PSD and its leaders. Many came wearing protective masks in case the security forces used tear gas again.

Unlike Friday’s violence, when more than 100,000 people came to the Victoriei Square, a peaceful rally was staged on Saturday, with people shouting against the Government and the ruling party leaders, also slamming the intervention in force of the gendarmes the other day. “You don’t have so much tear gas how much pain we have inside us”, “Liviu don’t forget, this is not Dragnetia”, “Resignation Government”.

Protests were staged in other cities as well: 8,000 protested in Sibiu, 6,000 in Iasi, 3,000, 3,000 in Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara, 4,000 in Brasov and 3,000 Constanta. Similar rallies took place in Galati, Bacau, Oradea, Piatra Neamt and Galati.
