“Utøya – July 22” film preview to be screened in Bucharest this weekend

The preview of the film “Utøya – July 22” made in the memory of the tragic mass shooting on Norwegian Utoya island seven years ago that claimed 69 lives, will be screened in Bucharest on July 22, at Merlock (37C.A. Rosetti street) starting 21:30hrs. The screening is held in the memory of the victims and in support for the Estuar foundation in Romania.

The event is organized by Bad Unicorn, with the support of Norway’s Embassy to Romania and in partnership with ART publishing house and the Estuar Foundation, in a charitable act.

The movie tells the story of a teenage girl struggles to survive and to find her younger sister during the July 2011 terrorist mass murder at a political summer camp on the Norwegian island of Utøya, that left 69 teenagers dead and other 110 injured.

The screening will be followed by a debate about the context and the consequences of the attack in Norway, about mental health, collective tragedy and post-traumatic recovery.

The book written by journalist Åsne Seierstad, „One of Us: The Story of a Massacre in Norway — and Its Aftermath”, will be also presented within the event. The book has been translated by Simina Răchiţeanu at Art Publishing House.

The film will hit the Romanian theaters as of August 17.

A ticket at the preview screening on July 22 is RON 20. All the money cashed from the ticket sale will be donated to the Estuar Foundation, which provides patients with mental illness with social options and alternatives so that they could be inserted in the Romanian community.
