The women’s volleyball team of Romania has dramatically qualified to the final tournament of the European Championship 2019 on Wednesday night, after defeating Bosnia-Herzegovina 3-2 (25-17, 19-25, 21-25, 25-17 , 15-9) to Lukavac, in his last match of Group F.
Romania had to win in Bosnia to qualify (the number of wins was the first criterion in the standings) but was led by 2-1, however it managed to win and has qualified in one hour and 55 minutes.
Romania thus took revenge after the 2-3 defeat of the first match of the qualifying round.
1,230 spectators attended the match.
Before the match Spain vs. Latvia, Romania ranks first in Group F with 13 points (4 wins, 2 defeats), followed by Spain 11 points (4-1), Bosnia 9 points (3-3), Latvia 0 points 0-5). The top two qualify to the final tournament, which will take place in Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Turkey, during August 23-September 8, 2019.
For the women’s team of Romania is the 12th participation to a European Championship, the best result being the 1963 bronze medal.
Romania’s men’s team has also qualified tp the European Championship 2019, after a 23-year break.
