A duet of young singers, Ilinca and Alex Florea will represent Romania at Eurovision 2017 in Ukraine, with “Yodel It” song, after winning the national selection on Sunday. The song gathered 10,377 votes from the viewers. Ilinca feat. Alex Florea singing “Yodel It” also won a prize of EUR 5,000.
Mihai Traistariu ranked second with “I won’t surrender”, while Instinct band ranked third with “Petals” song.
Ten finalists were racing for the Eurovision Romania trophy: Ana Maria Mirică, Ilinca feat. Alex Florea, Eduard Santha, Xandra, MIHAI, Maxim & Nicolae Voiculeţ, Tavi Colen & Emma, Instinct, Ramona Nerra, Cristina Vasiu.
Eurovision 2017 will take place in Kiev, with Romania performing in the second semifinals on May 11.
Ilinca Bacila is 18 years old and was born in Targu Mures to a family of musicians. She has studied music since she was 7 and attended numerous music festivals. She became famous in 2014 when she took part in the “Voice of Romania” contest, impressing the jury with the “Yodelling” technique and reaching the semifinals in Loredana’s team.
Alex Florea is 25 and comes from Constanta. He started singing since he was 16, being discovered and guided by Mihai Traistariu, who advised him to attend a music school and to join music contests. He attended X Factor next to his brother in 2014 and Voice of Romania in 2015. He is currently a master student at the Theatre Faculty in Constanta.
