R. of Moldova: Leanca 2 Government fails to receive confidence vote
The so-called Leanca 2 Government failed to get the confidence vote in the Chisinau parliament, unimedia.info reports. After debating the programme of the new Cabinet, only 42 deputies voted in favour of the new government, hotnews.ro informs.
51 votes were needed for the new government’s investiture.
According to the Moldovan Constitution, the President may repeatedly appoint a candidate for the premiership. If within 45 days from the date of the first vote the appointment of a new cabinet fails, the parliament is dissolved and early elections are called.
On Thursday, PD and PDL lawmakers have introduced on the new Executive list Frenchman Christophe Stephane Bride nominated for Ministry of Economy, and Paralympics athlete Sergey Afanasenco for Youth and Sports Ministry.
