Vladimir Putin: countersanctions against EU prolonged by one year
Russia is prolonging the countersanctions against the European Union following the prolongation of the sanctions against Russia by the EU, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, Interfax reports.
“The prime minister wrote a letter to me asking for the measures we took in response to the actions by our partners from some countries to be prolonged. In accordance with this letter, I have signed a decree today prolonging some special economic measures to ensure the security of the Russian Federation, and I am asking the government to promptly prepare and issue a decree,” Putin said at a meeting with government officials.
The issue of the recent decision made by the EU to prolong the sanctions against Russia was raised by Putin at the beginning of the meeting.
“As the prime minister suggested, we are prolonging our response measures by one year, beginning from today. I think it will be a good landmark to domestic agricultural manufacturers,” Putin said.
