Penny Market to build EUR 19m logistics centre near Bacau

Penny Market, part of the REWE group, has begun the development of the third logistics centre on the local market, near Bacau (north-eastern Romania), the total investment for land acquisition, for building the construction and for equipment will reach EUR 19 million.

The logistics centre in Moldavia aims at optimization of logistic and at regional distribution for Penny Market.

“It is a very important moment for the entire REWE business in Romania. The project is part of the development strategy of the Penny Market distribution network at national level and comes to join the two existing centres in Turda (north-western Romania) and Bucharest. With the inauguration of the logistics centre in Bacau an estimated 150 permanent jobs will be established,” Daniel Gross, Managing Director of REWE Romania said.

Developed by KÉSZ Holding Zrt., the branch in Cluj-Napoca, the logistics complex will have a total built area of approximately 19,000 m2, a height of 14.5 meters and a plot of land of about 8 hectares.

The coolers are integrated into an automated management system through which the refrigeration temperatures both inside and outside the area will be monitored.
