Two thirds of Romanians intend to leave on holiday, survey says

Two thirds of Romanians (77%) have said they intend to leave on holiday this summer, whereas 21% have not made up their minds, a survey about holiday this year as compared to 2016, reads.

The survey reads that it’s not money the first criterion considered for holidays – only 25% of Romanians consider the price. 41% say the most important are the landscapes and the touristic objectives. For half of the interviewees the budget is the same as last year. Some 32% have said they will allot more money for the summer holiday than last year.

  • 37% say the budget will be between EUR 500 and EUR 1,000
  • 15% – between EUR 1,001 and EUR 2,000
  • 28% say they will not have the amount of EUR 500

“The survey reveals a clear growth against 2016, however the market is far from reaching the potential,” Corina Cimpoca, senior adviser with MKOR Consulting said.

One third of Romanians will choose a new site for the holiday in 2017, the others want to go to a place they know.

Three stars hotels are the option for 47% of the Romanians surveyed.

39% say the holiday is going to last 4-6 days, whereas 37% target a 7-9 day holiday.

10% will leave by train, 50% by personal car and 28% by plane.

31% go on holiday every summer, 36% twice a year.

The survey was conducted during May 8-14 online on a representative national sample of 1,155 respondents.
