Romaero, parts manufacturer for Airbus BLADE prototype

Romaero, the largest company in the Romanian Aerospace Industry, held by the Ministry of Economy, produced and delivered components for Airbus BLADE (Breakthrough Laminar Aircraft Demonstrator) prototype within Clean Sky JTI project.

“Romania’s participation in this project has meant access to advanced technology and a leap of Romanian research in aeronautics,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Costin Borc said on Wednesday, attending the presentation of Clean Sky JTI program results.

The Clean Sky JTI, a Public Private Partnership (PPP) launched in 2008 between the European Commission and the aeronautical industry, was set up to bring significant step changes regarding the environmental impact of aviation.

With an overall budget of EUR 1.6 billion, Clean Sky will speed up technological breakthrough developments and shorten the time to market for new and cleaner solutions tested on full scale demonstrators including test flights;

Also,this project will contribute significantly to reducing the environmental footprint of aviation (i.e. emissions and noise reduction but also green life cycle) for future generations and ensure the highest level of European competitiveness in this area.

Romania is the only country in Central and Eastern Europe taking part in this initiative.

Romaero has delivered to BLADE project certain parts of the wings, which will help reduce pollutants and fuel consumption. BLADE prototype will fly for the first time next year, and then the results will be analyzed.

Romania, pole of aircrafts production considering the plants in Bucharest and Craiova

Building a pole for the manufacture of airplanes around the plants that are in Craiova and Bucharest should start soon for the future of aviation in Romania, Minister of Economy, Costin Borc said.

He pointed out that recently tax incentives for research and applied development in industry were adopted.

“I strongly believe in Romero and in assets’ development in the aviation industry. I think that the combination of industry and research has a strong future in Romania. What you see today is a proof in this respect,” Borc concluded.
