Romanian-US joint air drills at Campia Turzii

A NATO-led military exercise has begun on Monday in Romanian airspace. 71st Air Base Campia Turzii, Cluj County, is the scene where Romanian troops, together with the Americans, have started a joint exercise, digi24.ro informs.

The exercise consists in joint flights of training missions for the execution of air-to-air and air-to-ground drills by Romanian and US military.

Planned a year before, the exercise aims to practice tactics, techniques and standard procedures associated to air operations to increase interoperability and operational capabilities between the armies of NATO member states.

The exercise “Dacian Warhawk” includes about 200 Romanian troops, pilots and technical staff, six MiG-21 Lancer aircraft and four IAR-330 helicopters belonging to the 71st Air Base.

About 250 American soldiers take part to the drills, six F-16 aircraft and related equipment maintenance, belonging to US Air Force stationed in Europe.

Romanian-American exercise “Dacian Warhawk” will be held until March 26.
