Two years since she won the Golden Bear with ‘Touch Me Not‘ at the International Berlin Film Festival, Romanian director Adina Pintilie is returning with a new feature film project ‘Death and the Maiden’ that has been shortlisted at Berlinale Coproduction Market 2020, one of the most important events of the international film industry, which is running February 20-27.

The project is presented by director Adina Pintilie and producer Bianca Oana in the Berlinale Directors section.

The participation at Berlinale Co-production Market is facilitating the new projects to set meetings with potential international partners.Death and the Maiden‘ is an X-ray of a couple relationship, with all its dynamics and complex paradoxes, reflecting on the way time, memory subjectivity and family history are impacting on the manner we live the experience of intimacy.

The film explores the emotional archaeology of a couple in a watershed moment, which decides to go through a process of <memory deconstructing> together with the director, in the hope that they will understand and eventually solve the deadlock.

The movie will enter in production in 2021.
