Ashleigh Barty climbs on top of WTA rankings, Simona Halep on 7th position

Australian tennis player Ashleigh Barty, champion of Roland Garros, has climbed to the first position in the WTA rankings after winning the Birmingham tournament on Sunday.

Barty has 6,540 points, by 163 more than the former leader, Naomi Osaka, now on 2nd position.

Simona Halep was helped by the results and has climbed to the 7th position.

Mihaela Buzarnescu has lost five positions and has now reached the 47th position in the rankings, being very close to the drop out of top 50.

Sorana Cirstea has also climbed up to the 76th position, and Monica Niculescu has made a 29-position jump and has reached the 113th position in the world.

Irina Begu has also climbed in the rankings two positions, to the 114th.
