Champions League, women’s handball: CSM Bucharest 22 Rostov on Don 22

CSM Bucharest’ women’s handball team has dramatically drawn at home on Sunday in the main groups of the Women’s Handball Champions League against the Russians team Rostov on Don, 22-22.

The Romanian champions still tops the main group after this draw with 11 points, one ahead Gyor and 2 points ahead of Rostov.

In the 32nd minute Ana Paula Rodrigues was disqualified after throwing the ball in the face of CSM’s goalkeeper Paula Ungureanu.

The CSM will face Gyor on February 26, but has already qualified in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The CSM scorers: Udristioiu 1 goal, Frafjord 1, Gullden 2, Curea, Neagu 5, Jacobsen, Jorgensen 1, Ayglon, Bazaliu, Manea, Kurtovic 5, Niombla 3, Hagman 1, Mehmedovic 2. Coach: Helle Thomsen .

Oana Manea said after the match: “We had great emotions, we lacked energy. We played a poor game. We were greatly supported. The match was with ups and downs. We had to take the lead when we had the chance. I hope he do not repeat the game as it was today. The energy from the stands was wonderful. I’m sorry we could not bring them more joy,”  Oana Manea said.
