Dinamo, corrupt match in the Champions League? Vasile Turcu, heard by DNA

Former Dinamo shareholder Vasile Turcu, was heard on Tuesday morning by the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA). The Businessman must explain what happened in the autumn of 2007 during the match between Dinamo and Lazio in the Champions League.

DNA has opened a criminal investigation in this case after the media published more information on an allegedly corrupt match by the Dinamo Bucharest football club in the Champions League, ziare.com informs.

Vasile Turcu, at the time one of Dinamo’s shareholders, said immediately after the start of the investigation that he supports the investigation and he hopes the truth comes out.

Dinamo Bucharest came close to evolve in the Champions League in the 2007/2008 season. In the last qualifying round, Dinamo faced Lazio. It was 1-1 in the first game in Italy at the “Stadio Olimpico”. Lazio won qualification in Bucharest 3-1, while at the break Dinamo led by 1-0.

The prosecutors are suspecting that Dinamo purposely lost the match, receiving a significant amount of money from the Italians, amount hidden in the transfer money for defender Radu Stefan to Lazio just six months later.
