Update – Fed Cup semifinal: Romania defeated by France 2-3, fails to reach final

Romanian was defeated by France on Sunday 3-2 in the Fed Cup semi-final in Rouen, as the decisive doubles match was won by the pair Kristina Mladenovici/Caroline Garcia 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 against Simona Halep/Monica Niculescu.

In the fourth match Pauline Parmentier (53rd WTA) defeated Irina Begu 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.

Begu replaced Buzarnescu and Parmentier replaced Mladenovici.

Romania led France 2-1 in the Fed Cup semi-finals after the match between Simona Halep and Caroline Garcia on Sunday, won by the 2nd WTA player 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-4.

Halep won in 2 hours and 57 minutes and now has 6-1 balance against Garcia.

On Saturday, Simona Halep defeated Kristina Mladenovic 6-3, 6-1, at the end of a match that lasted an hour and 40 minutes.

Mihaela Buzarnescu lost the match against Caroline Garcia 3-6, 3-6 on Saturday and France and Romania were equal after the first day, score 1-1.

In the other semi-final Australia defeated Belarus on Sunday 3-2.
