Women’s Handball: Romania, in group with Norway, Spain and Russia at the World Championship 2015

Romania’s national women’s handball will play in Group D at the World Cup this year in Denmark, against Norway, Spain, Russia, Puerto Rico and Kazakhstan, according to the draw made on Wednesday in Kolding.
Norway is double world champion (1999, 2011), Spain is a bronze medallist in 2011, and Russia has four titles (2001, 2005 – final against Romania, 2007, 2009). Currently, Norway is European champion and reigning Olympic champion, Spain is European vice champion and 2012 Olympic bronze medallist.
The matches of Group D will be held in Frederikshavn, the World Championship will take place during December 5 to 20.
The top four ranked teams qualify for the last sixteen round.
Romania has qualified for the final tournament after a barrage against Serbia, defeating away 32-26 and losing 24-28 in Cluj-Napoca.
The other three groups are:
Group A (Herning) Denmark, Montenegro, Hungary, Japan, Tunisia, Serbia;
Group B (Naestved): Cuba, Sweden, the Netherlands, Poland, China, Angola;
Group C (Kolding): Brazil, France, Argentina, South Korea, DRC, Germany.
Brazil is the reigning world champion and Serbia is vice-champion.
