Italy and Rome, in particular, have been Romanians’ favorite destinations in 2016. Of the total Wizz Tours bookings Italy represent 40 percent, and half of them (20 percent of the total) were for Rome, 7 percent for Venice and 4.3 percent for Milan, a press release informs. In fact, these three cities are the most prefered cities by Romanians.
“Italy is without doubt Romanians’ favorite country, no matter what time of year. Moreover, every fifth Romanians booking by Wizz Tours was made to Rome. Our offer for Italy includes 14 destinations and about 6,000 accommodations from 5-star hotels and low budget apartments,” Istvan Csanalosi, managing director Wizz Tours, stated.
In the Peninsula, 45 percent of tourists from Romania choose 3-star hotels, while 4-star hotels are preferred by 35 percent of them. Only10 percent of Romanian travelers are accommodated at 2-star hotels, as 4 percent choose a 5-star hotels.
As for the length of the stay, the average is 3.45 nights for bookings throughout Italy, the release also reads. Only regions like Sicily, Sardinia and Bari, where there are some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, bookings exceed that average because tourists used to spend their entire summer vacation in the specific destination.
Regarding the preferred period for travelling abroad, the most popular months for Romanians, regardless of the destination, are August through November. But Rome, for example, is frequently visited even in the early months of the year February and March, August and November. Romanians avoid Venice in August.
Romanians are used to book their city breaks on average with 46 days before their departure date, and this number is also representative for Rome. Purchasing tickets in advance for museums and various other types of events is not popular yet, among Romanian tourists.
