The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BIRD) is financing a program helping Romanian high school graduates to pursue a university or a post-secondary education path.

Thus, Romania gets EUR 200 million from BIRD, a loan granted for 20 years, which will be redeemed in one installment on November 1, 2034, with a EURIBOR interest at six months.

The program aims to encourage high school graduates to enroll in universities, stimulating them and the teachers through various interventions such as grants, tutoring, counseling, extracurricular activities, curricula revision, teacher training, teaching improvement and summer programs. It will be implemented over a seven year period.
