Aenova Group invests EUR 14 M to expand site in Cornu, up to 100 new jobs available

The Aenova Group, one of the world’s leading corporations in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, is significantly increasing its production capacity for soft gelatin capsules and invests around EUR 14 million into the expansion of its site in Cornu, Prahova County.

“We will continue to expand our strategic and leading market position in the field of soft gelatin capsules. Our site in Romania offers the perfect conditions for this. With this investment, we will be increasing production capacity at this site by around 40 percent to more than 14 billion capsules a year”, said Dr Mohammad Naraghi, CEO of the Aenova Group.

The expansion is expected to be finalized in the spring of 2019. Additional, modern production and warehouse buildings will be created and the site will be equipped with state of-the-art production facilities. “If the new facilities are used to full capacity, we will need up to 100 additional employees”, said Michael Ammann, Head of Cornu Site.

Around 300 employees are currently working in the Aenova Group’s Romanian plant.

Soft gelatin capsules are used for food supplements and over-the-counter and pharmacy only medication. Well-known formulations are fish oil (omega 3), multivitamins, evening primrose oil, Q10 and garlic capsules. Soft gelatin capsules are also used for medication where a time release in the body is required.

The products that are manufactured in Cornu are exported to around 45 countries worldwide. Besides Cornu, soft gelatin capsules are also produced within the Aenova Group at its site in Kirchberg, Switzerland.

With a planned turnover of around EUR 760 million in the current financial year, the Aenova Group is one of the leading companies in the global pharmaceutical and healthcare industry.
