The Norwegian shipping company GC Rieber has announced on Wednesday that its subsidiary Dolphin Geophysical has won a contract to carry out 3D seismic surveys in the Romanian Black Sea area, a press release informs.
The contract, awarded by Black Sea Oil and Gas company, covers a period of 45 days, and the ship that will carry out the seismic studies is Polar Marquis.
“In the difficult market context, we are pleased to see that our modern assets and high quality services offered by Dolphin Geophysical are valued,” said Irene Waage Basili, CEO of GC Rieber.
Black Sea Oil & Gas, an independent oil and gas company based in Romania, has three blocks: XIII Pelican, XV Midia and EX-25 Luceafarul, totalling 5,000 square km in an area of the continental shelf belonging to the Romanian Black Sea insufficiently explored so far. These blocks were purchased from Sterling Resources Ltd. Carlyle Group took over in August 2015 all operations in Romania belonging to Sterling Resources Ltd. The new entity, called Black Sea Oil & Gas, is entirely owned by the Carlyle Group.
