Explosion at Petromidia Refinery in Năvodari, No Casualties

An explosion took place this morning at the Petromidia Refinery, with very large releases of smoke. The explosion was not followed by a fire and there were no victims.
The fire was extinguished. The Red Plan is to be deactivated from 10:00, and the special vehicles will withdraw to the base. Six special vehicles will remain at the scene to monitor the area, the firemen also specified.
“20 people were evacuated. There are no victims so far, and the rest of the staff self-evacuated in the assembly area, on the platform”, said the spokesperson of ISU Dobrogea, Ana Maria Stoica.
“Currently, Rompetrol Rafinare is carrying out the general overhaul of the Petromidia refinery. Activities and operations are stopped for maintenance work, recertification and modernization of production units. Against this background, this morning, there was a fire in the Gasoline Hydrorefining (HB) facility. It was extinguished and there are no victims, the situation being under the control of the intervention forces, who are currently cooling the installation, according to specific procedures. The local fire brigades benefited from the support of those from ISU Dobrogea,” said KMG International.
