Urgent investment plan Okayed for the Hospital for Burnt in Bucharest

Health Minister Vlad Voiculescu on Friday Okayed a plan of urgent measures on sanitation of the Hospital for Burnt in Bucharest following the release of the video footage revealing larvas swarming on a patient’s burns. Immediate action will be taken to clean the operating rooms and the Intensive Care Unit.

At the same time, the access doors in the Intensive Care Unit will be replaced by sliding doors with sensors and a chlorination station will be purchased. The plan also includes two more jobs: an epidemiology physician and a doctor for the isolation ward.

The estimated budget for the plan is Ron 449,310 and the deadline is 30 days.

Health minister visited the Hospital for Burnt on Friday morning and talked to the staff.

Commenting on the shocking case revealed by the media at the Hospital for Burnt, minister Voiculescu told Digi 24 on Thursday night that the problems there are related to management and reason. “You can buy a mosquito net for the windows even in the lunch break. It’s not a matter of financing here, it’s a problem of management, the hospital manager doesn’t need to have titles, but he must be a good manager. If conditions don’t serve the patient well, it means we need another manager,” Voiculescu said.

Regarding the video footage released by a doctor revealing flies’ larvas on a patient’s burns, the minister stated: “I hope he tried to help the patient after he put the camera aside.”
