Davis Cup: Romania 1 Israel 0

Romania leads Israel 1-0 following the win registered by Romanian tennis player Adrian Ungur against Israel’s Bar Tzuf Botzer 7-5, 6-3, 6-0 on Friday, at the Transylvania Hall in Sibiu, in the first singles match of the first round Davis Cup meeting, Group I value for Europe-Africa region.

In the second match of the day, Marius Copil is to face the most experienced Israeli team player Dudi Sela, a player whose parents are Romanian.

The programme is as follows:

Saturday, from 15:00: Florin Mergea/Horia Tecau – Jonathan Erlich/Edan Leshem;

Sunday at 13.00: Adrian Ungur – Dudi Sela, Marius Copil – Bar Tzuf Botzer;

The winning team will go into the second round of Group I and the losing team will go in the first round of the playoff to remain in Group I. The next opponent will be Slovenia or Slovakia, which are to meet also in the first round of the group.
