OMV Petrom Marketing loses lawsuit against Competition Council, will pay smaller fine

OMV Petrom Marketing SRL has lost the lawsuit against the Competition Council, but the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) has ruled that the fine should be lower: RON109.8 million instead of RON 137 million, hotnews.ro informs. The ruling is final.

The gas and oil giant was found guilty of participating in a cartel, along with other companies operating on the fuel market, the Competition Council said in a statement. The most important lawsuit, the one against OMV Petrom SA, in which a fine of RON 366.5 million is challenged, is still pending in court. The competition authority has fined both the company OMV Petrom SA and an OMV group- company, Petrom Marketing SRL.
