Romanian national poet Mihai Eminescu’s watch was sold for EUR 19,000 within “Romanians’ history” auction by Artmark in Bucharest.

Eminescu received the watch, a piece one of a kind, from Junimea political-cultural association, with the dedication “to the master of accent”. The piece was put up for auction for the price at EUR 5,000

The genius poet Eminescu also joined Junimea at some point during his literary career, introduced by his lifetime good friend, Ion Creanga, another great Romanian storyteller and writer.

Artmark also hosted an auction of contemporary art, where the best-sold piece was “Oath” by painter Ion Tuculescu, for EUR 40,000.

Other paintings were sold: “People Moving to the Right” by Mircea Rusu, for EUR 15,000 euro, “La pyramide rouge” by Horia Damian, for EUR 13,000, “Anemone” by Corneliu Baba, for EUR 9,000, “Red and Black Stripes” by Sandu Darie, for EUR 8,000.
